Biostatistics Core - Children's Hospital Los Angeles

Summary

The Biostatistics Core is designed to provide statistical consultation, data analysis, and data management services to research staff and faculty throughout CHLA.  The core has been built to reflect the institution’s growing research portfolio in the areas of basic, translational, clinical, health services, and community health research.  Currently, members of the Core offer a range of study design, data analysis, and database management services.

Price List

The core offers services at a fixed price per project with an hourly rate of $100/hour for the above described study design, statistical analysis and data management services. For data entry related services there is an hourly rate of $60/hr. The fixed project rate is negotiated with the investigator, the division head or program director prior to delivering the services.
The Core is committed to helping investigators secure new intramural and extramural funding to conduct research at CHLA. The core helps to develop grant applications by offering consulting services regarding the study design, performing sample size and power calculations and writing narrative regarding the analysis plan at no cost to the investigator. In the event that the project is funded, the Biostatistical Core services are expected to be included in the application and the budget as the project statistical resource.

Abstract

Members of the Biostatistics Core offer assistance with formulating a research question, selecting an appropriate study design, performing sample size and power calculations, developing data forms, creating databases, formulating an analysis plan, performing statistical analysis, developing appropriate graphs and tables for publication, writing appropriate sections for research papers, and answering critiques from reviewers. Members of the Core also assist researchers to help them develop and/or prepare CCI applications, grant applications, study design, database management, statistical analyses and manuscript preparation
