Center for Scientific Translation (CST)

The Center for Scientific Translation (CST) plays a crucial role in achieving the CTSI vision and goals by serving as the bridge to transform scientific discoveries into applications for human health and health care. Our approach has several unique and potentially transforming features:
• A partnership with USC Stevens Institute for Innovation (USC Stevens), a pioneering academic center that blends innovation, IP management, and commercialization with education, mentoring, and community development.
• Partnerships with world-class research entities, including the Saban Research Institute at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), considered among the top five independent pediatric research institutions in the country.
• An innovative concierge service to empower clinicians, engineers, and scientists to pursue translational research. The service is designed for multi tiered translational engagement from discovery of targets to pre-clinical IND/IDE enabling translational science.
• A downloadable electronic translational research lab notebook to chronicle translational discovery and development along with intellectual property milestone tracking software. In parallel, CST will provide a downloadable electronic primer and podcast on translational development process.
• Early IP assessment/marketing analysis and translational mentoring to empower novices and experienced translational researchers to advance to the next critical phase of the translational process.
