The CTSI Research Ethics Program is a prime opportunity to transform the biomedical research enterprise across the CTSI and share best practices with others in the context of working with diverse urban popluations. This transformation will involve cooperation among the Ethics Program, the Regulatory Knowledge and Support Program (RKSP), and CTSI centers, as well as the entities at CTSI Partners that already deal with regulatory matters. Our main goal is to expand the focus from basic issues and compliance to more sophisticated ethical considerations, support, and research. We will accomplish this by:

1. Providing support in identifying and addressing ethical issues during the planning and conduct of clinical and translational research, including novel issues in
community research and access to the results of research.

2. Working with other CTSI centers and programs to identify educational and training needs in research ethics and work with the Center for Education, Training
and Career Development (CETCD) to develop programs and materials to address those needs.

3. Identifying opportunities for novel ethics research and pursue those opportunities through development and conduct of original research within the CTSI and/
or in collaboration with other institutions in the national CTSA consortium.
